India sugar production declines by 16pc to 95.40 lakh tn in Oct-Dec: ISMA

Sugar production decreased by 16 per cent to 95.40 lakh tonne in the first quarter of the current marketing year starting in October. Production declined mainly due to lower output in Maharashtra. Mills had manufactured 113.01 lakh tonnes in the same period last year. The data excludes sugar diverted for ethanol production.
