Donald Trump was given a rapturous reception as he made a brief appearance in the members’ bar of the hotel at his golf resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare. Punters in the members' bar chanted "USA" and sang Fields of Athenry, Grace, and Sweet Caroline as the US President filed through the crowd, held back by members of the Secret Service on Saturday, 12 September. Mr Trump continues his visit to Ireland on Sunday after stirring up a diplomatic row hours into the trip by backing Irish unification. He starts the day at his golf resort in the southwest of the country as it hosts players including Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry for the Amgen Irish Open.
