Panettiere died on August 16 in South Carolina while staying in an apartment with her boyfriend Brian Hickerson. The Greenville County Coroner has ruled her death an accident, confirming she died from fentanyl as well as several other drugs. It revealed she had 4-ANPP, which is chemically similar to fentanyl, Alprazolam for managing anxiety, a muscle relaxant called Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine in her system. Quetiapine is used to help manage symptoms of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, as well as being used alongside antidepressants to treat major depressive disorder. The report obtained by TMZ comes after her autopsy said there were ‘no signs of trauma’. First responders initially reported a possible overdose after finding Panettiere in cardiac arrest. Their attempts at reviving the star at the scene failed. TMZ’s sources claim federal drug agents searched Panettiere’s home after her death, with neighbours claiming they had ‘long suspected’ a dealer had been visiting her house. The outlet stated that she and her drug dealer sent a ‘slew of messages’ about drugs, which is the focus of the Drug Enforcement Agency’s investigation. Best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, tributes poured in for the star as her family said they would remember her as an ‘incredible light’.
