Andy Burnham will have to decide whether the state pension triple lock survives, Sir Keir Starmer has said. The Prime Minister declined to say the lock should continue after the next general election, amid growing questions about the affordability of the policy. Introduced by David Cameron in 2011, the triple lock guarantees that the state pension rises in line with whichever is highest of inflation, wage increases or 2.5 per cent.
