The banner thrown down the facade of Saint-Denis's famed basilica, where French kings and queens are buried, bore the word 'remigration,' a far-right concept calling for the mass deportation of people of foreign origin. Mayor Bally Bagayoko said the city was a target because it 'embodies what racists hate.'
