More than a week after destructive storms moved through the Erie area, Congressman Mike Kelly returned to the region to learn more about new technology being developed to help mitigate storm damage and better understand how severe weather forms over the Great Lakes. Kelly watched demonstrations Saturday morning showcasing technology designed to help communities prepare for and respond to storms. He also went out on a boat to see the technology in action and learn firsthand how it can be used on the water.The visit also gave Rep Kelly an opportunity to learn more about how the Great Lakes and other large bodies of water can contribute to the development of storms.Following the demonstrations, Kelly discussed the advances in technology and potential funding opportunities he is exploring for people who suffered damage to their homes, property or vehicles during the recent storms.Kelly says education will continue to be an important part of preparing for severe weather, particularly when it comes to understanding nature, agriculture and emerging technology.
