A dramatic Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) rescue saw two young boys saved after they were dragged underneath Blackpool Pier by powerful waves. Kizza, 12, and Subby, 10, were swimming in the sea during a family day trip to Blackpool to celebrate Eid al-Adha on 28 May when the tide came in, dragging them beneath the structure. Bodycam footage released by the RNLI on Thursday (23 July) shows volunteer lifeboat crews pulling the two boys to safety, who were “close to drowning”. Their cousin Ted, 21, is seen clinging to a beam. The boys were then taken to shore and assessed by paramedics. A second crew rescued Ted. Zully, mother to 10-year-old Subby and aunt to 12-year-old Kizza, said: ‘My little boy was so scared. He held on, the little brave man, but couldn’t hold any more and I could see him going under. It was a miracle how they got him.”
