Calif. mayor to plead guilty to acting as illegal agent for China
Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang resigned after agreeing to plead guilty to acting as an unregistered agent of the Chinese government. Federal prosecutors say she edited and promoted messaging aligned with the People’s Republic of China on WeChat before taking office, while city officials say the conduct stopped after she was elected to the city council in 2022.
