Britain hit by 63,000 lightning strikes during 'tropical night' as Met Office extends thunderstorm warning in record-breaking heatwave
The Met Office confirmed more than 63,000 lightning strikes were recorded in the 24 hours to 10am this morning, and warned many more could follow later today and tomorrow.
