A growing dump near New Perungalathur
The garbage dumping spot is found at Alapakkam village in Nedungundram panchayat. Local body officials tell residents they are dumping waste there for want of an alternative space. This practice is encouraging individuals and other private entities to fling their discards there. Through responsible in situ waste management, the gated communities nearby can ensure the dump does not assume monstrous proportions
