Would have fielded 50 candidates in J&K polls had our ban been lifted, says Jamaat-e-Islami

A select panel of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) is supporting some Independent candidates in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The JeI stated that it would have fielded candidates on at least 50 seats if the ban was lifted. The third phase of elections, covering 40 seats, is scheduled for October 1.
