West Bengal: TMC hits streets as SIR Phase 2 begins; BJP urges ECI to act on fake documents

Phase 2 of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) began across 12 States and UTs, including poll-bound West Bengal, triggering massive protests by the TMC in Kolkata. While Abhishek Banerjee accused the BJP and ECI of spreading fear and “labelling Bengalis as Bangladeshis,” BJP leaders including Amit Malviya, Sukanta Majumdar, Mithun Chakraborty and Suvendu Adhikari hit back, demanding verification of fake documents and protection for BLOs.
