Watch: Cars swallowed by sinkhole as ground collapses at traffic junction in Nebraska

Security cameras captured the moment two vehicles fell into a sinkhole as the earth suddenly gave way at a crossing. Footage released by University of Nebraska-Omaha Public Safety on Tuesday (24 February) shows the ground collapsing whilst the two cars were waiting at a traffic light in the Aksarben area. Bystanders can be seen rushing towards the vehicles to assist, and managed to help the two drivers to safety before emergency crews arrived. No injuries were reported. “Thank you so much to those who pitched in! You took the initiative to assist fellow Omahans,” the force said. “We appreciate you being good neighbors and taking immediate steps to assist in the situation.”
