US trade deficit drops after Trump tariffs — but not with India and top trading partners

US tariffs reduced the overall trade deficit by USD 42 billion. However, the deficit with top five partners, including India, rose by USD 9 billion. Trade with these partners increased to USD 257 billion. The deficit shifted from China and Switzerland to Vietnam, Mexico, Taiwan, and India. India ranked tenth in US trade.
