US Plane Crash: Authorities uncertain if there are survivors following deadly plane crash

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser held a press conference early on Thursday (January 30) addressing the mid-air collision between an American Airlines passenger jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday (January 29).Joined by federal and local authorities, Bowser confirmed that 64 people were on board the plane and three on the helicopter. Washington D.C. Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly Sr. stated that there was no confirmation yet of any survivors.While officials have not provided a death toll, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, where the flight originated, suggested that all on board perished, saying, "It's really hard when you lose probably over 60 Kansans simultaneously."The collision occurred as the passenger jet, en route from Wichita, Kansas, was approaching Reagan for landing. Radio communications between the air traffic control tower and the Black Hawk indicate that the helicopter crew was aware of the nearby plane.(ANI)
