US life expectancy hits record high in 2024, CDC says
American life expectancy reached a new high of 79 years in 2024, a 0.6-year increase from 2023. While infant mortality remained stable, suicide entered the top ten leading causes of death, displacing COVID-19. Heart disease, cancer, and unintentional injuries remained the top three causes.
