This $1 Billion Trump Loan For Three Mile Island Lifts S&P 500 Nuclear Giant

Constellation Energy shares angled higher at Wednesday's stock market open after the Department of Energy announced late Tuesday that the S&P 500 nuclear giant's plans to restart a Three Mile Island reactor is now backed by a $1 billion Trump administration loan. The Department of Energy loan is expected to cover much of the project's estimated $1.6 billion cost with the first advance expected to make its way to Constellation Energy in Q1 2026. The nuclear giant first announced it will be firing back up Pennsylvania's Three Mile Island Unit 1 in September 2024 as part of a two-decade long contract with Microsoft to provide power for the tech giant's data centers.
