Thermal coal imports down 5% in FY25 as production improves
India’s import of non-coking coal for thermal power stations decreased by 5.04% in FY25 compared to the previous year, due to an increase in domestic production. The government aims to eliminate substitutable coal imports by FY26. The country’s total coal imports, including coking coal, also decreased by 2%.
