Supreme Court stays former Maharashtra minister Manikrao Kokate’s conviction in cheating case

The Supreme Court has put a hold on the conviction of former Maharashtra minister Manikrao Kokate. This comes after he appealed a cheating and forgery case. The court has issued a notice to the Maharashtra government. While his disqualification as a member of the legislative assembly is stayed, he cannot hold any office of profit.
