Seann William Scott preparing for daughter to be ‘horrified’ by American Pie

Seann William Scott tells Metro about his ‘graphic’ new horror film (Picture: Getty) Actor Seann William Scott, 49, is still best known as Stifler from the gross-out comedy franchise American Pie. He tells Metro about watching X-rated movies as a child, his hardcore horror movie Dolly, and whether we’ll ever see that Dude, Where’s My Car? sequel. Hallo – you sound very chirpy. I’m from Minnesota. We are known for being annoyingly upbeat! Tell us about your new horror film, Dolly. Well, there’s not a ton of story, but it’s about a couple who stumble upon this strange area of the woods with all these creepy dolls hanging from tree limbs and encounter ‘Dolly’, a terrifying human being that basically just really ruins their day. It’s one awful nightmare! Scott is best known for his breakout role as Steve Stifler in American Pie (Picture: Getty) I spent a lot of the shoot with half my jaw hanging off. Actually it was this prosthetic jaw that was literally like having a rubber steak glued on your face. Everyone on set was constantly looking at me with this really grossed out reaction. I asked to keep the jaw, but they wouldn’t give it to me. Sounds one for hardcore gore fans… How hardcore are you? Let’s put it that way – it’s not a movie I’m gonna have my mom watch. The violence is pretty graphic. But I’ve always loved horror. My dad introduced me to so many shockingly brutal horror movies when I was like five and six years old – like The Texas Chainsaw massacre and Night of the Living Dead. I remember my brother introducing me to A Clockwork Orange and even then I was so blown away by Malcolm McDowell’s performance. Looking back there are some parts of that movie that are probably not appropriate for a six year old! But I didn’t see it that way. What scares you in real life? I don’t love spiders. If there was a huge, hairy spider was crawling on my shoulder, I wouldn’t pet it. Over 25 years on, you’re still best known as Stifler, the obnoxious jock from American Pie – does that bug you? No, I love that movie so much. I wouldn’t have a career if it wasn’t for that movie. American Pie was celebrated for its crude humor and exploration of teenage sexuality (Picture: Universal Pictures) Do people often yell ‘Stifler!’ at you? Oh yeah – probably a couple of times a week. The other day I was at a restaurant and somebody walked by and went ‘Hey, Stifler, how you doing?’ And I go, ‘Good!’ Because, honestly, you don’t to like, break their heart and say, ‘No, I’m not really that guy’. But my daughter was with me, she’s like, ‘Daddy, what is going on? Who’s Stifler?’ She’s only five and I will never let her watch any of those movies. No! I’m joking. One day I will have the conversation and show them to her and she’s either gonna be horrified and be like – ‘Daddy?!?’ or she’s gonna laugh her ass off. Do you actively avoid eating apple pie? I don’t – because, unlike Jason Biggs – I didn’t have sex with it in that movie. Jason says he’s lost count of the times somebody’s sent him over a pie in restaurant. But, sadly, nobody’s ever bought me an apple pie. Though you do famously drink a pint of beer filled with semen in the first movie. Let’s hope I never get sent one of those. That would be really terrible. Oh my gosh, to hang out with everybody again, it would be great. I don’t think another American Pie will ever happen, but it’s fun to think about. Though they don’t seem to be making a ton of comedies any more – which is a shame. But they are making another Scary Movie, so you never know. At one point they were developing a sequel called Seriously Dude, Where’s My Car? and I think that title alone is hilarious enough to make the movie. You’re selling your Malibu home for $18 million – are you tired of the beach? Am I tired of the beach? Oh yeah, like the beach is so annoying and gross. No way! I’m just moving closer to work. I still love the beach. I just changed beaches. You’ve got 80k Instagram followers, but you’ve not posted anything for a year. Come on! Yeah, I’m not great at that. I gave it a try. But I’m terrible taking pictures and also at promoting myself. Some people would do really good job and they’re really classy. It’s just not my forte. The plot follows Macy, a young woman who fights for survival after being abducted by a monstrous figure (Picture: IFC Films/Everett/Shutterstock) You don’t look it, but you’re going to be 50 this year. How are you feeling about that? You know what? I felt fine until you just brought it up! Now I have issues. Maybe it’s time for me to grow up, because I still feel like a big kid. Though that’s what makes me an awesome dad. Do you have a mantra for life? Not really. I’m a pretty positive person. There’s just so much to be grateful for. Comment nowWhat’s your favourite Seann William Scott movie? Comment Now And why Seann William Scott? It’s a mouthful, right? Because when I got into SAG [Screen Actors Guild], there was another Seann Scott. So, I either had to change my first name or add my frickkin middle name. Personally, I don’t love it. In fact, I’m just going to go by Seann from now on. Yeah. Let’s rebrand and remove the William and the Scott, but add three more ‘n’ s to my first name Just Seannnnn, that’s it. Done. Dolly is out now in cinemas. Got a story?
