Russia pulling back but not out of Syria, sources say

Following the fall of President Assad, Russia is withdrawing troops and equipment from front lines in northern Syria and Alawite Mountains. However, Moscow intends to maintain its presence at the Hmeimim airbase and Tartous naval facility. While some personnel and equipment are being relocated, Russia is reportedly engaged in discussions with Syria's new leadership regarding the future of the bases.
