'Railways Liable for Theft': Court orders railways to pay Rs 4.7 lakh to passenger for stolen bag in reserved bogie

NCDRC has ordered the Railways to pay nearly Rs 4.7 lakh compensation to a passenger whose belongings were stolen on Amarkantak Express in 2017. The commission held the Railways responsible due to the failure of the TTE in preventing unauthorized persons from entering the reserved coach, and imposed a cost for mental agony.
