Punjab govt amends Shops Act  to reduce compliance burden on small businesse, 95 percent commercial established to benefit

Establishments with up to 20 employees no longer require registration, just basic information submission. Larger businesses will get deemed registration approval within 24 hours. The amendment also introduces a grace period between offences, allows offence compounding, and extends daily work limits to 12 hours with double pay for overtime.
