Princess of Wales Kate Middleton lays wreath at Cenotaph to mark Anzac Day

The Princess of Wales laid a wreath at The Cenotaph during a ceremony and parade to mark Anzac Day. The day commemorates members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who have died in conflict. Wearing a navy dress with white lapels and a poppy, Kate stood alongside the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Hamish Cooper, before placing a wreath at the memorial. Princess Anne had laid a wreath earlier during a dawn service at Wellington Arch. Anzac Day was originally established to commemorate the 1915 Gallipoli landing of Australian and New Zealand troops in the First World War.
