PMO greenlights GST revamp; All eyes on council

The Prime Minister's Office has approved a significant overhaul of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework, potentially leading to the first major changes since its implementation eight years ago. The finance ministry will consult with states to build consensus on reforms, including slab changes and procedural simplification. A proposal may be presented at the GST Council meeting in August.
