Peonies in Full Bloom at Tokyo’s Ueno Toshogu Peony Garden

The peonies are now in full bloom at Ueno Toshogu Peony Garden in Taito Ward, Tokyo. The Japanese-style garden features a variety of peonies throughout the seasons. In spring, visitors can enjoy more than 500 plants of about 110 varieties from China, the United States, France and other places. On Saturday, many people visited the garden to take photos of the colorful flowers and admire them up close. A 57-year-old woman visiting with a friend from Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, said, “It’s well worth seeing — not only are the peonies large and vibrantly colored, but there are also rare colors like purple.”
