Ozone layer on road to recovery despite volcano eruption, UN weather body says

The World Meteorological Organization reports that the ozone layer is on track for long-term recovery, despite a brief depletion due to a volcanic eruption near Tonga. Efforts to phase out ozone-depleting chemicals under the Montreal Protocol have been successful, with full recovery expected by 2066 over Antarctica, 2045 over the Arctic, and 2040 globally.
