NHRC takes note of Ashoka University Professor's arrest; sends notice to Haryana DGP

The National Human Rights Commission, India, has taken suo motu cognizance of a news report concerning the arrest and remand of an Ashoka University Professor in Haryana. Finding a prima facie violation of human rights and liberty, the NHRC has issued a notice to the Director General of Police, Haryana, demanding a detailed report on the matter within one week.
