Myanmar junta chief announces election for December 2025 or January 2026

Myanmar's military government announced that it will hold a general election in December 2025 or January 2026, marking the first specific timeframe for the long-promised polls. Junta chief Min Aung Hlaing revealed that 53 political parties have already submitted their lists to participate in the election, according to state media.
