Monsoon withdrawal likely to begin around September 15: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the southwest monsoon's withdrawal from northwest India around September 15. This year, the monsoon covered the entire country earlier than usual, resulting in a 7% surplus rainfall nationwide. Northwest India experienced a significant 34% excess, leading to extreme weather events like floods and landslides, while east and northeast India recorded deficient rainfall.
