Marxist leader set to become Sri Lanka's next president

Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, leader of the People's Liberation Front, is poised to become Sri Lanka's next president after a vote marked by dissatisfaction with the country's handling of a financial crisis. Dissanayaka leads with over 42 percent, ahead of opposition leader Sajith Premadasa and incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
