Man was trapped in hospitals for a decade – now he is finally free

Due to a lack of support for his autism, Nicholas Thornton has spent over 10 years confined to dementia care homes, psychiatric units and A&E wards. Now, following The Independent’s report on his plight, Nicholas is free from hospitals and living in his own place. Rebecca Thomas went to visit and see the fundamental change in Nicholas following his release.
