Labour MP Dan Carden says Starmer’s decision to sack Olly Robbins was a mistake

A Labour MP has refused to be drawn on whether he has confidence in the prime minister as he said there is “definitely a question about the future of the Labour party”. Dan Carden, who represents Liverpool Walton, told the BBC’s Newsnight he believed he would lead Labour into the local elections - but said “right now, it feels like we are going from crisis to crisis”. Sir Keir Starmer is under increasing pressure from his own MPs over his handling of the scandal surrounding his appointment of Lord Peter Mandelson as US ambassador. He added that he believed Sir Keir’s decision to sack Sir Olly Robbins had been a “mistake”.
