J&K: Mirwaiz says he has been placed under house arrest

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Hurriyat Conference chairman and Kashmir's chief cleric, alleged he was placed under house arrest, preventing him from leading prayers at Jamia Masjid. He believes this action was taken to suppress the commemoration of the July 13, 1931, martyrs. Mirwaiz urged authorities to lift restrictions and allow peaceful tribute to those who sacrificed their lives.
