The 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by Soviet troops is being observed this year. Auschwitz, largest of the Nazi concentration camps, remained operational from May 1940 until its liberation in January 1945. More than a million people, majority of whom were the Jews, got killed at this camp.
