India's manufacturing incentives progress amid efforts to cut China imports

India's production-linked incentive scheme has attracted over $17 billion in investments since its 2020 launch, boosting domestic manufacturing across 14 sectors. The scheme has significantly increased electronics production, including smartphones, and created nearly one million jobs. India now aims to expand laptop and IT hardware manufacturing to reduce imports from China.
