India sixth-most severely-affected country by extreme weather from 1993 to 2022: Report

India has been ranked the sixth-most severely affected country by extreme weather events over the past three decades, suffering 80,000 fatalities and economic losses of around USD 180 billion. A report by Germanwatch notes that globally, over 9,400 extreme weather events resulted in 7.65 lakh deaths and direct losses of nearly USD 4.2 trillion.
