India overhauls GDP data to improve accuracy, official says

India is set to revise its real GDP calculation methodology this week, incorporating a more granular approach using 500-600 price items from CPI and WPI to enhance accuracy. This overhaul addresses economists' concerns about outdated methods and aims to improve data reliability, particularly for manufacturing. A new GDP series with a 2022/23 base year will be released on February 27.
