Instances of lions killing domestic animals in Gujarat's Gir forest have seen a significant rise, peaking at 4,385 in 2023-24. Despite an increasing prey base within the forest, the incidents have nearly doubled since 2019. The lion population and their distribution area have also expanded notably.
