IMF did not question GDP growth figures: Nirmala Sitharaman on lower grade on national accounts

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the IMF praised Indias healthy economic performance and did not question its growth figures. The ‘C grade assigned to national accounts data was due to the outdated 2011-12 base year. India will adopt 2022-23 as the new base year from February 27, 2026, ensuring more accurate GDP and GVA calculations.
