The SHANTI Bill 2025 repeals the Atomic Energy Act of 1962, ending the state monopoly on nuclear power in India. By introducing tiered licensing, allowing private sector participation, and enabling intellectual property rights for nuclear inventions, the Bill creates a roadmap for 100 GW of capacity by 2047 and supports India’s Net Zero 2070 goal through Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
