Home Ministry extends residency permit of exiled Bangladeshi Author Taslima Nasreen after public appeal

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the residence permit of exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen. This decision followed Nasreen's public appeal to Home Minister Amit Shah. Nasreen has been in exile due to threats over her writings critical of religious extremism. She has lived in several countries and has resided in India since 2004.
