Hemant Soren govt waives farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh

"We had planned to waive off loans up to Rs 50,000 in the first phase and had also given benefits to farmers. But farmers were facing the brunt of weather for two-three years," Soren told the crowd in Ranchi. "If a farmer is hit by bad weather once, it takes time for him to recover, so we have decided to waive loans up to Rs 2 lakh for around 38 lakh registered farmers in the state. Today under this, loans worth about ?400 crore are being waived off."
