Govt to extend time limit for filing updated returns for any assessment yr: FM

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an extension for filing updated returns to four years. She proposed exemptions of TCS for education loans and revealed that 33,000 taxpayers used the Vivad Se Vishwas 2.0 scheme. Tax deductions on interest income for senior citizens will double to Rs 1 lakh, and TDS on rent will increase to Rs 6 lakh.
