Govt to borrow Rs 8 lakh crore in first half of FY26

The Finance Ministry has announced its H1 FY26 borrowing plan, with the government set to raise ₹8 lakh crore, or 54% of the total ₹14.82 lakh crore market borrowing. This includes ₹10,000 crore in Sovereign Green Bonds for sustainable projects. The borrowing will be conducted via 26 weekly auctions, with securities maturing between 3 and 50 years.
