Govt mulls change in base year for computation of GDP to 2022-23 from 2011-12

The government is considering changing the base year for GDP computation to 2022-23 from the current 2011-12 to better reflect the economy. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation will propose this change to the Advisory Committee on National Accounts Statistics, with new estimates expected by February 2026.
