Gilgo Beach serial killer’s ex- wife Asa Ellerup speaks out after husband pleads guilty

The ex-wife of the Gilgo Beach killer has broken her silence after her husband pleaded guilty to eight murders in the Long Island area. Rex Heuermann, a former architectural consultant, said that each of his victims over a 17-year-period were strangled during a court appearance on Wednesday (8 April). Speaking to reporters after the guilty plea, Asa Ellerup said that her thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. “At this time and moment, I ask that you give some privacy to my family as they navigate through this very difficult time,” she saided. When a reporter asked her how she could have not been aware of Heuermann’s murder spree, she did not reply. Her attorney then said that the murders occured whilst she was away from the family home.
