Fee for children's Aadhaar biometric updates waived off for a year

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has waived all fees for mandatory Aadhaar biometric updates for children aged 5–17 years, a move set to benefit around 6 crore children. The waiver, effective from 1st October 2025 for a period of one year, ensures that updates of fingerprints, iris, and photographs—previously charged at ₹125 for children aged 7–15—are now free.
