Federal agents and sailors saved after rescue in 10-ft swells goes wrong
Three federal agents had to be saved by the US Coast Guard after a rescue operation in 10ft swells went wrong. On 31 March, a Customs and Border Protection Caribbean Air and Marine Branch marine unit responded to reports of a capsized vessel off the coast of Puerto Rico. As the agents approached the two sailors, who were clinging onto the upturned vessel, they encountered rough waves and were thrown into the water. Footage shared by the US Coast Guard Southeast depicts the operation, which saw all five individuals rescued from the waters and hoisted into a helicopter. The Puerto Rico Police Joint Force of Rapid Action (FURA) were also present and assisted with the rescue. All agents and the two boaters were treated for minor injuries.
