Criminal cases shouldn't be slapped against scribes for writings perceived as govt criticism: SC

The Supreme Court asserted that criminal cases should not be filed against journalists for writings perceived as government criticism, as it violates their freedom under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution. The court issued a notice to Uttar Pradesh government and protected journalist Abhishek Upadhyay from coercive steps.
